I am trying to configure a box to appear manually after clicking on a link, using syntax like:
Open box
This works fine, but after dismissing the box it reappears automatically if the page is reloaded via the refresh button, or if (having navigated away) you return to the page via the browser back arrow. (So I assume that this is a cached page that is being reloaded. If you reload the page from scratch via the website menu the box auto-display is cleared. Note this is not an issue with a specific browser, it happens in Windows 10 with Firefox or Edge, and in iOS with Safari.)
The whole point of using a link to trigger the box is so that it only appears after deliberate manual action by the user. Once the user dismisses the box it should stay dismissed unless the user clicks again. Clearly having it pop up apparently “at random” when refreshing or navigating back to the page defeats the object.
I set “Auto-show box?” to “Never”. When this is done, the additional parameters for “Cookie expiration”, “Screen width”, “Auto-hide?” and “Enable test mode?” are all hidden and so cannot be set.
Please could you tell me if I am doing something wrong, and/or if you can suggest a way to fix this – thank you!
